Robert Gates, after retiring from the position of Secretary of Defense for both the Bush and Obama Administrations, published his memoirs, "Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War," reflecting on his many years of government service. Gates served as Director of Central Intelligence from 1991-1993. He is the only career officer in CIA’s history to rise from entry-level employee when he joined the CIA in 1966 to Director in 1991. Joe Biden was first elected to the United States Senate in 1972. He represented the state of Delaware in the Senate from 1973 until 2009 when he became Vice President under President Barack Obama. He served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for a total of 36 years and as the Committee Chairman from 2007-2009.
We can see that Robert Gates was in a unique position, for his entire time in government, to witness the performance of Joe Biden in his role as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. And what did Robert Gates share with us about his observations of Joe Biden for all those many years? In his memoir "Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War," which was published in 2014, Robert Gates, who served as Secretary of Defense under both Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, expressed mixed opinions about Joe Biden. Gates praised Biden as a man of integrity but also criticized his foreign policy judgment. Gates mentioned that Biden had been on the "wrong side of every foreign policy issue" for the past four decades.
It is hard to imagine, given what he knew and observed about Joe Biden, that Gates was really comfortable with the idea that Biden would be elected President and have his hand on the nuclear button. But here we are … it is 2024 and Joe Biden’s world is slowly falling apart based on the policy positions of Joe Biden and his Secretaries of State and Defense.
With the Government of Israel prosecuting a war against the terrorist state of Hamas in the area called the Gaza Strip, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, was confronted with the requirement to take Joe Biden’s call regarding how Israel is conducting this war and how Biden thinks Israel should be conducting this war.
We don’t know exactly was exchanged between the two leaders, but John Kirby made it clear, in a tv interview with Neil Cavoto, that Israel will have to kow-tow to Biden’s perspectives and demands … regarding Israel’s need to attack and dislodge the remaining Hamas battalions that are in the city of Rafah … or any further aid to Israel may be delayed or not provided at all.
This is Biden’s position some six months after stating that he was behind Israel’s efforts to wipe out Hamas. The implications for not standing with Israel leads back to the Government of Iran.
They are directing these activities … trying to encircle Israel and destroy it completely. Biden is responsible for Iran’s ability to do this because he released billions of dollars, which were frozen by the Trump Administration, and failed to use the snap-back sanctions on their oil exports. Israel is now preparing for a missile or multiple missile attacks from Iran and its surrogate in the north, Hezbollah. At the same time, Biden wants to remove the terrorist classification of another Iranian proxy, i.e., the Houthis in Yemen. He offered this if the Houthis will stop launching drones at US ships in the Red Sea.
Instead, Biden should be ordering a conventional B52 strike on the port facilities and launch sites. It must be noted that, in the midst of all this, the US is pressuring Israel to make a ceasefire agreement without getting the hostages released.
And if that was not enough … yesterday at the NATO headquarters in Belgium, our milk-toast Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, announced that Ukraine will be given the opportunity to join the NATO alliance. The headline in “The Hill”:” Blinken – Ukraine will become a member of NATO” …. “Ukraine will become a member of NATO. Our purpose at the summit is to help build a bridge to that membership,” Blinken told reporters Thursday in Brussels.” It is important to note here that Blinken did not call for a ceasefire in Ukraine or talks that could lead to a ceasefire … no, in this case … Blinken asked the House of Representative to pass, without any restrictions, another $100B bill to fund Ukraine’s war.
If we reflect back to the start of this war, it must be remembered that one of the reasons Putin gave the world for starting this war – and he made it crystal clear – was that he could not allow a NATO country to share a border with Russia. Ukraine was that buffer between NATO and Russia. So, today, three years later, Ukraine is still in a war of attrition – clearly a war they cannot win and certainly a war they cannot even bring to a stalemate.
On the same day that Ukraine lowered the draft age to 25 and accessed 50,000 more soldiers for the meatgrinder, Russia announced that they have assessed 300,000 new recruits for the meatgrinder. Ukraine cannot continue their effort without continued NATO and US infusions while Russia has their wartime economy up to full production levels with the help of China and Iran.
Now, Biden intends to push Putin further with full throated support for Ukraine joining NATO. I suppose it does not matter that Russia has nuclear weapons that can easily reach the US mainland. Biden is making support of our strongest allies in the Middle East conditional in the face of an expanded Iranian threat. The same Iran that is fueling Russia’s war in Ukraine. Many of the drones that have been used to attack Ukraine have been supplied to Russia by Iran. Iran has been working on a nuclear bomb of their own. But, can we really be sure that the Russians have not given Iran one or more in exchange for the battlefield support they give Russia?
So, we can lay our heads on our pillows; but, can we really sleep soundly with Joe Biden at the helm? Remember what Secretary Gates told us: “… Biden had been on the "wrong side of every foreign policy issue" for the past four decades.” What should be clear to every American who intends to cast a vote on Nov. 5th is that Joe Biden needs to be removed from the Presidency before he gets us all killed.
VOTE like your life depends on it …. Because your life does!
Nice writeup Marc. And so many Jews continue to support this anti Israel party and person. Like committing self genocide
